Save Water – Water Day is March 22, 2009

Did You Know?
A leaky toilet tank of only one drop per second wastes about 10 000 L of water per year.
Of all the water that we have on this planet, only 3% of it is fresh, but less than a third of 1% of that fresh water is available for human use. The rest of the water is frozen in glaciers, or polar ice caps or is deep within the earth’s crust. As Canadians, we are at the top of the list for water consumption and there are a lot of actions we could take to reduce the amount of water we use every day.
When washing your hands, use only enough water to wet your hands and rinse off the soap. Turn off faucet in between these times. Also, don’t let the water run while you are brushing your teeth. Every drop counts!
- Don’t run the tap to get cold water, keep water in the fridge!
- Don’t dispose of solvents, cleaners or chemicals down the drain.
