MP Mark Warawa to Join Canadian Soldiers at “Understanding Afghanistan” Event in Langley
“We are in Afghanistan to help establish a safe, secure and stable environment,” says Warawa. “Canada, along with the international community and the Government of Afghanistan, stand by our commitment to achieve a secure and sustainable future for this country.”
The event will feature the stories of two soldiers from the Royal New Westminster Regiment who will share their stories from the front lines, as well as hear from aid group, the Mennonite Central Committee of the valuable contributions being made in Afghanistan by non-governmental organizations.
I would like to thank Pastor Brad Sumner and the work being done by Jericho Ridge Church to educate and inform Langley residents about why Canada is there, and what we are doing,” says Warawa.
“I will be talking about the many tangible results that can already be seen across Afghanistan through the continued efforts of the international community,” says Warawa. “Education, health care, clearing land mines, economic and social development, as well as assisting in the establishment of a democratic government are the touchstones of our commitment to the people of Afghanistan.”
