MP Mark Warawa Announces Funding for Langley International Festival
“Our Government is proud to support the Langley International Festival Society,” said Heritage Minister James Moore. “By partnering with communities to support activities that celebrate our shared history and our rich cultural diversity, we are fulfilling our commitment to strengthen our communities and support arts, culture and heritage.”
“The Langley International Festival Society has received funding of $38,300 to help present the 11th Annual Langley International Festival, which will take place August 27th and 28th,” says Warawa. “It was a pleasure to connect with the Society this week to tell them the news.” Society organizers are thrilled with the grant and are looking forward to a fabulous event this year.
“I love taking part in the festivities at the Langley International Festival,” says Warawa. “I enjoy dressing in my traditional Ukrainian clothes and celebrating all the diverse cultures and heritages of my Langley neighbours and friends.”
The Langley's International Festival Society is a local incorporated non-profit organization. The festival activities will feature local artists and include theatrical, dance and musical performances as well as a variety of visual art displays.
The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
