LANGLEY, BC, – Mark Warawa, Conservative Member of Parliament Langley, today announced funding for the Aldergrove Fair Days celebrating the local arts and culture of Langley.
“The Aldergrove Festival Days Society has received federal funding of $3,000 to help present the 21st Annual Aldergrove Fair Days will be held on July 22nd and July 23rd, 2011,” says the Langley MP.
“I always look forward to the Artisan’s Showcase which features presentations of artistic displays and demonstrations, such as pottery, photography, spinning and weaving wool, 2-D art making and wood working,” says Warawa. “I love to judge the Chilli cook off, and taking part in the parade, but one of my favourite parts of Aldergrove Fair Days is the Fast draw competition,” (see attached photo).
“I’d like to thank the organizers of the Aldergrove Fair Days creating this incredible family-friendly event that draws together the people of Aldergrove, and that encourages tourism, which benefits our local businesses. See you at the Fair!”
“Our Government is proud to support the Aldergrove Festival Days Society,” said Minister of Canadian Heritage James Moore. “By partnering with communities to support activities that celebrate our shared history and our rich cultural diversity, we are fulfilling our commitment to strengthen our communities and support arts, culture and heritage.”
“Our Government is helping to build stronger communities across our great country. We recognize that many Canadians from coast to coast do their part to ensure the vitality of their communities,” says Warawa “I applaud the efforts of incredible volunteers who give their time to organize events that enrich the fabric of community life.”
The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
