Mail theft continues
Mail theft continues to plague Langley, with the areas of Brookswood and Walnut Grove being targeted last week.

Seven community mail boxes were hit in two weeks at 204 Street and 30 Avenue, along with an area between 212 and 216 Streets, and 86 to 91 Avenues. Two weeks ago, MP Mark Warawa hosted a meeting with Canada Post to discuss strategies for combating the problem in Langley. This week, the problem spread to the area of 210 Street and 72 Avenue.

“Thieves have now reverted to simply prying open the post boxes to get the mail inside,” said Langley RCMP Supt. Janice Armstrong, who attended the meeting. “We have definitely seen this in Langley. Canada Post is testing new materials in some municipalities right now that will limit the ability to pry the boxes open.”

She urges residents to keep an eye out and call police anytime there is someone suspicious around the boxes.
