The ecoENERGY Retrofit program for homes is back, for a limited time, the Conservative government says.

The program began again in early June and will last until the end of March of next year.

It allows people who are upgrading their homes to get cash back from the government if they increase energy efficiency.
People are eligible for up to $5,000 in grants, covering a variety of possible upgrades.

The individual grants range from $25 for swapping out older window-installed air conditioning units, to more than $4,000 for installing a geothermal heating and cooling system.

“Many Langley residents have contacted me asking for the renewal of this program so they can continue to make energy efficient upgrades to their home,” said Langley MP Mark Warawa. “With this program, we are not only helping Canadians save money but also creating thousands of jobs and protecting our environment.”

Warawa said the program could help up to 250,000 Canadians upgrade their homes, and generate as much as $4 billion in economic activity.
To qualify for the program requires evaluations both before and after the upgrades.
