Cutting Red Tape at the Border Great News for Langley Businesses
Langley MP Mark Warwa says today’s announcement that the Canadian Border Services Agency has met its target of reducing the paperwork burden on Canadian businesses by 20 percent is “great news for Langley businesses.”

Through the Paperwork Burden Reduction Initiative (PBRI), the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) has eliminated over 1600 requirements imposed on businesses. These reductions eliminate obsolete, non-essential administrative demands, making the CBSA commercial process easier for Canadian businesses to understand.

“Many businesses in Langley deal with cross-border issues, and the volume of complicated paperwork needed to conduct their business has been a disincentive,” says Warawa.  “The Government understands the needs of business and has taken action to help.”

“Cutting red tape supports small business, and all Canadian business.  The less time entrepreneurs spend on red tape, the more time they have to grow their businesses, and this is good for the local and national economies.”

The CBSA has formed a Working Group, co-chaired by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, to work with private-sector partners to continue reducing the paperwork burden on Canadian businesses.

“Our Conservative government is committed to managing our border in a way that strengthens security while supporting jobs, trade and economic growth,” says Warawa.
