Tributes to Jack Layton and condolences to his family can be offered through a book started by Langley MP Mark Warawa.
Langley MP Mark Warawa is joining other Members of Parliament across Canada in starting a book of condolences in memory of late Jack Layton.
Opposition Leader Layton died at the age of 61 on Monday. He appeared to have successfully battled a bout of prostate cancer when, shortly after leading his New Democratic Party to huge gains in the federal general election, he announced that he had to take a break to fight a new cancer.
Today, Layton’s body is lying in state in Ottawa. He is the first Opposition Leader ever to have died in office in Canada.
The book of condolences will be available at Warawa’s consituency office, at 104-4769 222nd St., in the building behind the Wired Monk.
“Providing a book of condolences for our constituents, will help afford Canadians across the country with a vehicle to pay tribute to Jack Layton with their own thoughts, prayers and memories,” said Warawa.
Once the condolence book is filled with thoughts and prayers from constituents, Warawa will send it to Mr. Layton's family.
