Federal Funding Announced for New Aldergrove Recreation Centre
Langley, BC – Today, Member of Parliament Mark Warawa, alongside representatives from the Government of Canada, Legislative Assembly of British Columbia and Township of Langley, announced $9.8 million in federal funding for the new Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre.
“A new recreation centre is of vital importance to both Aldergrove and the surrounding areas. It is a privilege to advocate for the needs of Langley — Aldergrove constituents in Ottawa, and I am pleased to see federal dollars going to support this valuable community project,
“Diane and I started our life together in Aldergrove in 1972. I am confident that the new recreation centre will enrich both our family and the community for years to come,” said Warawa.
The new recreation centre will open its doors to the public in June of 2018, and will replace the aging Aldergrove Community Arena and Aldergrove Outdoor Pool. Funding for the project will be a joint effort, with $9.8 million being provided by the Government of Canada, and the Township of Langley covering additional expenses for the facility.
Also in attendance for the funding announcement and ground breaking ceremony were John Aldag, Member of Parliament for Cloverdale — Langley City; Darryl Plecas, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Abbotsford South; and Jack Froese, Mayor of the Township of Langley.
