Mark Warawa: Never has a Prime Minister spent so much to achieve so little

February 28, 2018

Ottawa, ON – This afternoon, Member of Parliament Mark Warawa issued the following statement in response to Budget 2018.

“I am incredibly disappointed with the 2018 federal budget. It is filled with phony spending announcements and lots of confetti. The world economy is roaring but Justin Trudeau is failing to turn this opportunity into results for Canadians,” said Warawa.

“The reality is seniors are continuing to be ignored, middle-class Canadians will be paying more in taxes, and local businesses and employees will soon feel the sting of new taxes.

“Additional funding was announced for Canadians through the Canada Summer Jobs program, but fewer students will get jobs because of the Prime Minister’s discriminatory new values test.

“Canadian veterans were told that the government can’t afford to do more for them, but the Trudeau government will send $1.5 billion out of Canada for the Prime Minister’s Feminist International Assistance policy. This year’s budget again shows us what this Liberal government is all about – reckless spending with little benefit for Canadians.

“This budget creates growing uncertainty for small businesses and higher taxes for everyone.

“I have never seen a budget that spent so much to accomplish so little. It is a sad day for Canadians,” concluded Warawa.
