Langley MP Mark Warawa will miss the Langley City Community Day Parade on Saturday, due to an important vote in Parliament on Friday.

“I always look forward to the Community Day Parade, but this year I have to stay late in Ottawa to fight to protect our economy,” Warawa said.

On Friday, Parliament will be dealing with thes upplementary estimates. Warawa said there are over 3,000 infrastructure projects arranged and ready to go, but it is important that Parliament give approval for the funds to flow.

The Liberal and Conservative parties reached an agreement Wednesday, ensuring that the estimates will pass.

Warawa plans to take the first flight out of Ottawa on Saturday morning, in order to appear at the Douglas Park celebrations after the parade. He will also be hosting the Langley Environmental Hero award ceremony at Fort Langley at 1 p.m.

Times readers selected an individual and business “environmental hero” via an e-mail poll, and both winners will plant a tree at the Fort on Saturday as part of the event.

The public is invited to attend the event.
