Langley MP Mark Warawa says Parliament will be spared a planned midnight confidence vote on Canada’s Economic Action Plan stimulus supplements on Friday night.
“After meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper this week, Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff has stood down on his threat to collapse government by voting against the stimulus bill,” says Warawa. “The vote will now take place earlier in the day (1:00pm EST).”
“Passage of this bill means that over 3,000 infrastructure projects desperately needed to continue our economic climb will be moving forward. These billions of economic stimulus dollars need to start flowing now, and I am very pleased the Liberal leader has finally recognized that,” says Warawa.
“The stimulus package will get people to work, will boost the economy, and it will increase EI benefits for out of work Canadians who are in desperate need of it."
“Also on the plus side, it means I can now leave Ottawa on Friday night and make it home in time for the Langley City Community Day parade. See you all there!”
