Staying Connected - January 2010
January 05, 2010

Dear Constituent,

For the most part, this is looking like another typical Canadian January - A cold one. With the 2010 Winter Olympics happening next month, I thought I would share the Olympic Spirit and announce some Olympic events happening in Langley! Also, I would like to invite you to our Town Hall meeting happening on February 6th, at 10:30 AM at Nicomekl Elementary.

Keeping in mind our frosty winters, it would be fitting to let you know a little bit about what our government's been doing in Canada's arctic region.

Our Conservative Government is  investing $10.9 million in expanding a key hub for arctic research at Resolute Bay to improve our knowledge and understanding of Northern regions. We're helping northern communities develop adaptation plans to better understand and plan for the impacts of possible climate change. And we're also improving our ability to defend our sovereignty over our Northern territories by improving our Northern naval capacity at Nanisivik.

I've included more information about these and more initiatives below for you if you're interested. I hope for the rest of the winter you and your family keep warm and healthy (despite the weather).

Best regards,

- Mark
